Rebirth is in the air
Broken sundials keep turning
The children dance in the swaying breeze
Seasons fade as their end draws close
I’m not a part of my surroundings
Nothing rises behind the dimly lit candle
Nature is quite a fickle mistress
She commands both respect and fear
The sound of crying echoes in the forest
Every desire is now a fallen tree
I can’t stand the horror I see

My chariot awaits in the clouds
I call for it to come on down
Please lift my spirit to the heavens
All I hear are the white horses
They know I don’t belong here
So they run as quick as the light can
That’s when I awake from slumber

The skies are ravaged by thunder
Chaos spreads through various shapes
The plains are filled with frightened voices
Ice traps all the warmth and solace
The beauty I saw starts to change
Fires surge and engulf all available land
Jagged cracks emerge in the ground
All of the mountains come crashing down
My mind unites with my sobbing eyes
Together they try to understand

My chariot awaits in the clouds
I call for it to come on down
Please lift my spirit to the heavens
All I hear are the white horses
They know I don’t belong here
So they run as quick as the light can
That’s when I awake from slumber

Green morphs to brown then black
Burnt leaves are left scattered all around
Lifeless forms are everywhere
The sun refuses to shine on the land
I sit here waiting for a lost message
White ashes rotate in the frozen gusts
The rivers died from a lack of flowing water
I try to plant a tiny symbol of growth
Sadly it withers within the hour
The time to leave has come
I have done all I can

My chariot awaits in the clouds
I call for it to come on down
Please lift my spirit to the heavens
All I hear are the white horses
They know I don’t belong here
So they run as quick as the light can
That’s when I awake from slumber
The white horses run toward me
And I am standing in their way
I wrote this song today as a way to channel my feelings through more indirect references. The title comes from a line in one of my favorite songs. Hope you like it.
