Literature Text

I lose myself
I lose myself everyday
But when I ask for help
I never know what to say
Just tell me why
Why must I cry?

I feel the walls closing in
Yet no one seems to care
All my pleas are paper thin
But this is perfectly fair

There’s no use in locking me away
I’ll break free from you eventually
Once I’m gone, I will never return
This is the same lesson I had to learn
And now I know why the caged bird sings

Mistakes fill my empty head space
And leave me with a searing pain
Now I must fight them face to face
If I ever want to run free again

There’s no use in locking me away
I’ll break free from you eventually
Once I’m gone, I will never return
This is the same lesson I had to learn
And now I know why the caged bird sings

I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings
Please release me, release me now
I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings
I know why the caged bird sings

There’s no use in locking me away
I’ll break free from you eventually
Once I’m gone, I will never return
This is the same lesson I had to learn
And now I know why the caged bird sings

A war is tearing me up inside
I’ve become a victim of my weakness
And there’s nowhere I can hide
My past keeps locking me in darkness
Here is the next song for my concept album. This one deals with feelings of sadness primarily but like my other songs there are multiple ways to interpret it.
